North West Business 2026-27

North West Business is an annual guide to business and investment in the North West. The 2026/27 edition of North West Business marks the 14th publication of this highly successful journal that, since its launch in 2009, has established itself as the premier business and investment guide for the North West Province. This edition notes the relevance to the North West of the innovative approach that the Chartered Institute for Business Accountants (CIBA) has taken in trying to stimulate rural economies through a fund that will be dedicated to incorporating rural enterprises into the mainstream economy. More innovation comes from a regular source of forward thinking and new ideas, the North-West University (NWU). In this instance, critical hydrogen infrastructure has been allocated to the university by the National Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI). NWU will host both the Mobile Hydrogen Refuelling Station and the Rapid Prototyping, Testing and Training Facility (RPTTF), an indication of South Africa’s pathway to a new and greener fuel future. In 2028 NWU will welcome the first students to the Desmond Tutu School of Medicine , heralding the opening of South Africa’s 11th school of medicine.
